The foundations for Social Computing Journal were sown through countless conversations and nightly brainstorming sessions with an eclectic group of tech enthusiasts. We were motivated by a common interest to discover how technology is altering how we connect with each other, communicate and collaborate.

As our conversations intensified and the conversation grew more intense, it became clear that the concept of social computing went beyond not simply a buzzword. It was a trend which was changing our lives and work. From the advent of social media platforms that connect people across the globe to the complex algorithms that shape our online experience and experiences, we realized we were witnessing a transformative event in the human story.
